Sanitation Worker, 8th Main Road, Malleswaram

From Housework to Sanitation Work

My name is Chandra, and I have been working as a sanitation worker for the past 12 years. Before that, I was doing housework. I start my work on the 18th Cross, then go wherever I am assigned, since it keeps changing. I like working on the Metro road because there is less garbage to collect—there are fewer trees, so fewer leaves to pick up.

Things Are Better Now, Less Garbage

Compared to earlier, things are better now. There is less garbage. Malleswaram is a good place—there are many nice places to eat, and people are kind, there is no problem with them. We face problems when the roads are expanded.

Four Children, Nine Grandchildren

I have 4 children who are all married, and I have 9 grandchildren. My two sons drive autos, and my daughters do housework. I have my own house in Sriramapuram, but now I stay in a rented house here.
