Pooja items vendor, Sampige road

From Milk Colony to Sampige Road

My name is Tamayya, and I have been here since 1992, selling pooja items on Sampige Road. I live on 17th cross, in Milk Colony. The items in my shop sometimes get delivered here, or I travel to the market to purchase them myself.

Hardly Any Businesses Back Then

Since 1992, Malleswaram has transformed considerably. There were hardly any businesses back then; they have multiplied now. The population has risen as well, which has led to more vehicles on the road. Everything is online, so we don't see many customers buying directly from our shops, but some regular old-timers continue to purchase from us. A lot of people who used to come have now moved away from Malleswaram, so among those who still visit the market, there are many new faces.

During COVID, the business took a significant hit. It was difficult because nobody was out on the streets, and we did not have customers. It has improved now.

Waiting for the Newer Market

There was an older market where most of our shops used to be located; we have moved out here because they are constructing a newer one. We aren't sure when it will be ready.
